The opportunities to learn more about our community are always there. Are you interested in participating in a service learning project? From April 20-22, 2018, Peace will be participating in an Urban Immersion Service Retreat (UISR). Through their retreats and trainings, UISR creates a deeper understanding of the complexities of poverty through team building activities and critical reflection. We will be near Midtown Global Market and focus on projects at organizations like food shelves, shelters and other social service agencies. The program begins at 6:30pm on Friday evening and ends at 9:30am Sunday morning. Registration is $100 per person and is due March 18. Please register online here.

Have you ever wanted to have a conversation with a friend or family member whose political stance differs greatly from yours? The Better Angels “Skills Workshop” teaches practical skills for having better conversations with friends and family members with whom you have strong political disagreements. The workshop will be held from 6pm to 8:30pm on November 21 at Faith Covenant Church. To register, click here. For a download on the core skills that are taught by Better Angels, click here.

On Sunday, Pastor Kjell Ferris and Annie Bonow shared their reflections from the Dominican Republic mission trip they went on in October with Lord of Life and Servidores Mundiales. Peace’s gifts helped build a three-room home for a family. If you’d like to watch their joint sermon, check out our Facebook page. Servidores Mundiales sent us their November newsletter, which you can view here. Below you can see a slideshow of photos from the trip.
